Campfest Time
It’s the perfect thing to do!
It’s that time of year again! Especially now! You’ve been cooped up all this time, so it’s time to kick back your heels, plan your beach-side menu and book your family outing. Remember the old adage, “a change is as good as a rest?” This is the truth!
Here are some definite healthful “to-do’s” and “not-to-do’s” to incorporate into your planned vacay.
Get some sun and exercise!
You’ve been a little short on Vitamin D lately – having been cooped up due to COVID-19 concerns. Get out there and get yourself some sun! Not only will the sunshine up your Vitamin D, but it will be an emotional boost to your entire system! And exercise doesn’t have to entail a wearying run under a hot sun. A leisurely stroll can be even more heartening!
Plan to get some rest and relaxation
Don’t overcrowd your vacation with places to go and things to do. This is your time-out, your break, your much-needed getaway. Make use of this valuable resource to restoke and rekindle your mind, soul and spirit. Take time to sit and enjoy the scenery of your chosen vacation spot and be sure to make time to catch up on your sleep!

Enjoy Food!
Food is your go-to for energy, strength, health and vitality. Eat like you mean it! Go for the organic, less nitrate brats and hotdogs. If you can get your hands on them, buy some fat, organic juicy steaks! Get enough watermelon for the whole family to enjoy a few days in a row. Nothing is more refreshing than crisp, cool sweet watermelon on a hot summer day. Save yourself some work and buy quality potato salads and baked beans to round out your fare. And don’t forget the salad. Take the easy way out choosing ready-made salad kits such as Caesar etc. Your body will thank you for the fiber and fresh nutrients.
A GREAT way to break your work/sleep/work rat race in which everyone is stuck, is to take a mini-vacation to your local trails and favorite hiking spots. Give yourself time to learn indigenous flora and vegetation such as the morels (mushrooms) of central Missouri, U.S.A. With such knowledge comes the freedom to ‘live off the land’ as you walk your way to better health. And knowing which foods you may safely eat and enjoy as you camp, is your ticket to organic (and free) eating at its best!
When all is said and done, you’ve made your plans, found time off and you are ready to pack and go, don’t forget to take some power bars, nuts, organic jerky and especially water!
Then of course, what about your gear? The first and foremost necessity for hiking is of course hiker boots or shoes. The Keen brand name comes most highly recommended! And they are easily purchased through Amazon! Take a look:

Remember! Hiking in the great outdoors is Covid-compatible, and user-friendly!
Spend your vacation time wisely: Take a break! Relish your time off and every bite you eat. But most of all…Enjoy life!
Hi,
I have been taking Vitamin D pills due to the lack of sunshine, as I like you believe it is important for physical and mental well being. Exercise is also a major factor along with a nutritious diet. Here in Canada, we have been restricted to going camping or to our cottages. No more nitrate brats like hot dogs for me. The fat juicy steaks are extremely expensive here as several meat plants had to close down due to COVID-19 cases. I love the other choices you have listed like watermelon and healthy organic salads. Thank you for sharing, “Campfest Time”. Wishing you and your family a healthy and safe life.
All the best,
Michael
As summer draws near, a lot of plans have been put in place for me an my family to go camping, our camp menu is already drafted out, the places to visit and all the fun things to do an really we are all so excited and cant wait to summer to come and also we’re praying that the pandemic should be over by then so we can carry out our plans but just like you said this is our time of rest and relaxation which is of utmost important, and we shouldn’t b overwhelmed by activies thereby getting all worked out. Thank you for such a great thought. I really have learnt.
Hey nice article you have there. Your thoughts are indeed invaluable. An active mind gets tired just like an active body, so therefore the need for one to rest and relax is very Paramount as it can help to reduces stress and improves overall health. The time to quiet your thoughts and letting your mind rest is part of the healing process coupled with an healthy food
